How to Hang a Frameless Metal Poster

A frameless metal poster creates a clean, floating look without a bulky frame or reflective glass. Installing one is straightforward, but careful measuring and surface preparation make the difference between a professional result and a poster that sits unevenly.

Before you begin

Choose the final position before removing any protective backing. Consider furniture width, eye level, nearby lighting and the amount of empty wall around the artwork. You will need a pencil, measuring tape, spirit level and a clean cloth. The exact mounting method depends on whether your poster uses strong double-sided mounting tape or a hidden wall hook.

Choose the right height

For a single piece on an open wall, aim to place the visual center of the artwork approximately 145–155 cm from the floor. Above a sofa, bed or desk, leave enough breathing room so the poster feels connected to the furniture without appearing crowded. A gap of roughly 15–25 cm above furniture works well in many interiors.

Method 1: Double-sided mounting tape

  1. Check the wall. Tape works best on smooth, clean and fully cured painted surfaces. Avoid dusty, damp, heavily textured or damaged walls.
  2. Clean the contact area. Remove dust and grease and allow the surface to dry completely.
  3. Mark the position. Use a level to mark the top edge or two reference points.
  4. Test the placement. Hold the poster against the wall before exposing the adhesive.
  5. Apply pressure. Once aligned, press evenly at the mounting points for the time recommended for your tape.

Remember that high-strength tape can damage paint when removed. This method is best when you want a minimal installation and do not expect to move the artwork frequently.

Method 2: Hidden wall hook

  1. Measure the position of the rear hanger.
  2. Transfer that measurement to the wall and check it with a spirit level.
  3. Install a suitable screw, hook or wall plug for your wall type.
  4. Hang the poster and adjust until it is perfectly straight.

A wall hook is the better option for larger pieces, uneven surfaces or anyone who may want to reposition the artwork later. Always choose hardware that suits plasterboard, masonry, wood or the material behind your wall.

Create the floating effect

Our hidden mounting system holds the metal wall art slightly away from the wall, creating a subtle shadow around the edges. This floating presentation emphasizes the clean silhouette of the Dibond panel and works particularly well with automotive posters, motivational wall art and modern custom prints.

Final check

Step back several metres and inspect the alignment from different parts of the room. Check that the poster is level and that reflections or direct light do not distract from the artwork. A few minutes of careful positioning will make your metal wall art look intentional and professionally installed.
